Get Ready for ARRL Field Day 2026 in Montgomery

If you’ve never checked out ARRL Field Day, this is a great year to do it. Happening June 27–28, 2026, Field Day is amateur radio’s big annual weekend where operators head outdoors, set up temporary stations, and make contacts all over the country. It’s part hobby, part community event, and part emergency preparedness exercise — all rolled into one.

Here in the Montgomery, Alabama area, the Montgomery Amateur Radio Club (MARC) is part of the local excitement. Field Day is a fun chance to see ham radio in action, meet local operators, and learn how radios can still play an important role when other systems go down. If you’re already licensed, it’s a great time to get on the air. If you’re brand new, it’s one of the easiest and most welcoming ways to see what amateur radio is all about.

What makes Field Day so interesting is that it’s not just for longtime radio enthusiasts. You’ll see portable antennas, radios running in outdoor setups, and people working together to make contacts and share knowledge. It’s a hands-on event with a laid-back feel, and it’s a great reminder that local clubs help keep both the hobby and the community connected.

If you’ve been curious about amateur radio, mark the last weekend of June on your calendar. And if you know someone involved with the local club, Field Day is a perfect excuse to stop by, learn something new, and enjoy a unique community tradition in the Montgomery area.
